Woops!

I'm here, really I am.

Just not doing too hot. Soon as football was over the weight loss stopped. I was walking more than ever with the puppy, but also eating more than ever. Argh, why can't I get it in gear?

I'm not running right now and probably won't for a while. I don't have plan for that yet. They say with large breed dogs you should not run them unless on grass. We do have a worn path around our park I can try but the puppy is still such a distraction that I can't keep a good pace. I need to get started on it.

Oh and then 2 weeks ago, I broke my hand ... and my foot. Yes my foot. Talk about putting a damper in your plans. Crap! Yesterday I walked... no.... hobbled about a 1/2 mile because the puppy needs to get walked! That half a mile took a long time. I'm wearing a walking boot. About halfway through my calf started to throb. Ugh.

I will start walking again once I get the boot off. Right now that is scheduled for December 2nd.

I did not and will not make my goal.

I am very dissappointed in myself. I am unable to exercise and I get that there is nothing I can do about it. But the eating! WHY WHY WHY!

Recap on goals....

So I see that I said I wanted to lose 20 lbs by Christmas. That works out to less than 5 lbs a month. I did well in August, thank you football season and puppy. September I did ok but not as well as I should have. I am down 7 lbs so that leaves 13 to go by Christmas. About 4 lbs a month. So it's halfway through October! Heck, when did that happen? I need to get on it!

I'm busy again and been a walking fiend with the puppy, but I'm back to overeating. I need to get in gear!

I am still here!

Honest, I'm here. Football is over. Today is the first day with no practice. I'll probably still have dinner ready by 4:45 out of habit though.

Football season was busy this year. At the same time we got a puppy. A 6 week old rottweiler. Needless to say it has been a VERY VERY busy couple of months.

During that time, I lost 7 lbs. How? I quit overeating. I didn't have time. I would rush home, cook dinner, feed all the animals and head off to football. Come home, feed animals and crash for bed. Up at 4:30 to do it all over again. See, no time!

Well football is over but we still have the puppy. I have been walking him every morning and then short walks in the evening. I plan on doing some longer evening walks. But when I go home, I can chill out for a minute. That is where my worst snacking occurred. I have broken that habit, now it must stay broken.

The puppy will be a blessing here. When he's in the house I can't take my eyes off him. That keeps me busy. Busy is the key for me. I munch otherwise.

I can do this. I'm on track for the weight I want to lose by Christmas. I think. Heck, I have been so busy I can't remember my own name sometimes.

Let's see. How about by the end of October I make it to an 11 lb loss? That would be a lb a week. I can do that, right?

A walking machine....

I am doing some form of walking at least twice a day right now. In the morning I'm doing about a mile getting the puppy some exercise before work. This morning he apparently decided maybe if we walk faster we'll be done with the walk faster. I don't think he quite enjoys the walks yet. And, much to my dismay, a mile does not poop him out anymore! If he keeps up this pace, we can start going a bit further too.

Last night is no-football night. It was loooong walk with the puppy night. We were gone for about an hour. There was a 5 minute rest in the park to people watch and get attention (the puppy got the attention, not me). Other than that it was a decent walk. He didn't drag butt the whole time. We walked about 2.2 miles yesterday. That means 3.4 for the day. I like it. I should start wearing a pedometer again just to see how many steps I'm getting in.

I have no clue what the scale will say Saturday but I hope it's a loss (don't we all!). I'm eating a bit more for dinner from when football first started) but I'm not munching much. I'm loving having so much else to take up my time so I'm not obsessed with food!

Hope you all are wonderful!

Getting some moving in... any moving is better than none!

While I'm still not getting any running in, I am finally getting some walking in. I have declared Wednesday night puppy-walking night... just me and puppy. We only walk about 30 minutes at a time since he's just a puppy, but it's way better than the nothing I have been doing up until now. Also, my son started school today so I decided to start getting up earlier (ugh) to walk the puppy. We got about a 30 minute walk in this morning. Not a bad start to the day. Now I just have to get my butt to bed a bit earlier to handle it. Zzzz.....

I forgot to weigh in before I ate breakfast last Saturday. Woops. I'll weigh in this Saturday. Right now instead of coming home and eating, I'm coming home and rushing to get dinner done or if it's a easy-dinner night (like leftovers), I go out and hang with puppy a bit or bring him in the house. He needs constant inside supervision since #1 he's not potty trained and #2 he thinks the cats are fun to chase around.

This week was pantry/freezer week as declared by my husband. Means we bought only necessities (milk, bread) and so the grocery bill was $20. I'm so tired, I have idea why I started this paragraph. LOL!

So, while I'm not running these days, at least I'm doing something. We'll conside football season a bit of a running break. I was going to try to do a 5K around my birthday but football ends just a couple of weeks before my birthday so I'm not so sure about being ready. We'll see.

Hope everyone is great!

Weight loss is coming....

Finally. Football and puppyhood has be so busy and occupied, I'm finally losing weight. I am eating superlight dinners which is ok with me. I am a bit worried for when football is over in the beginning of October, but I'm hoping by then eating a light dinner will be a habit. I'm not snacking when I get home from work. I'm eating more fruit.

I've lost 2.5 lbs towards my 20 lb by Christmas goal. It's an awesome start and I'm happy about it. I'm getting some exercise in (walking with a friend during practice) but no real running at this point. I expected it though, football season is very time consuming. Next year, my son enters high school football so I think that will be a bit easier on me.

Anyway, thanks for hanging in there with me during my sparse postings lately.

Yup, I'm still here.

Life went into crazy-busy mode. My son came back from vacation with his cousin and my parents for a week. Two days after my parents and nephew left, football practice started. I was so unprepared. My son has to eat dinner about 4:30 / 4:45 so the food can digest before practice. Waiting til after practice, um, no. So I rush my butt home from work and get dinner done. I am on the search for crock pot recipes right now. The first week I was totally unprepared. I'm getting more on the ball as we head into the end of the second week.

Football is five days a week. Four of those days are for two hour practices, and then a game. A game takes about 4 hours door to door plus I have to make a nice healthy lasting meal ahead of time.

Oh, then last Saturday we got a puppy. OMG, a puppy. Me, who is scared of dogs. But who can be scared of a puppy? He's a 6 week old (will be 7 weeks tomorrow) Rottweiler. He is the cutest though I'm not sure our three cats agree at this point. But getting the routine down has been a lot of work. And making sure he doesn't pee in the house. Last night I took our nice area rug out of the living room so it's almost all tile downstairs. That was a huge stress point for me.

Now on to the real topic: weight loss and exercise.

Exercise, um, not so much. A friend and I are talking about walking during football practice. It's a chatty kind of walk, but it's better than nothing. I have not run since my 5K. I just don't have the routine down yet. The only time I can run is weekends or during football practice. It's been hot but it's finally cooling down.

Weight loss: I think this is going well. I have been sooo busy I go home and fix dinner and just have a teeny bit. To be honest it's the small munching I do while fixing my son a plate. Then that's it. I need to make sure this stays a habit, not overeating when I come home. That has been a huge downfall for me. Tomorrow is weigh in. I want to get below 150 by next week's weigh in.

Hope you are all well!
